Well I think I know I am out if luck but I thought I would post for good measure. I bought my 1st Neo cd system off eBay, and I think it arrived DOA. It seems to boot fine but I can't get it to advance beyond the "cd player" like menu page.

From what I have seen on YouTube, I should be able to hit start at this point to get the game going right?

Also I should mention that I can not hearbthe disc spinning at any point so either I have a broken cd drive or snk had ultra silent cd technology. Ha ha

if it is the CDROM is there a replacment part someone can advise me on?

Thanks

Open the lid and push the black pin (at 6 o clock position) down and see if it spins.

Hi All,

I just purchased a top loading NGCD from Ebay, and am experiencing similar issue:

THe unit will turn on, CD does spin up, and there are head movement, but the unit is stuck in the CD player screen, pressing PLAY doesn't do anything. This happens to both game disc and a regular audio CD.

Any suggestions or help will be appreciated

You can disconnect and reconnect the cables, make sure the lens is clean (may be spinning up, and too dirty to read) ect ect

Well first off, you don't press play. When it says press start, press start. If that message isn't popping up then the laser might be dirty or failing.

Try cleaning it first before you try to replace it.

If the seller claims he already cleaned the laser...I'd just make him refund you. Sounds like he knew it was acting odd, or else why would he clean the laser right before he shipped? Just a thought

if you really want a new pick-up the model is H8147AF, it was used in a bunch of CD players from around that time, not difficult to find it.

I will try your suggestion with amplifying the laser strength first.... the site you sent seems to suggest that this is a possible fix for a disc read error, in my case, i don't even get any error.. its just stuck in that cd player screen, pressing start won't do anything, and play will not play a music cd

Ok, so I have ordered the lens unit from Ebay.. in the event if that doesn't fix the issue, what else can you guys suggest? Does anyone know the part number on the daughter board? I am suspecting that could be the problem, as I don't think its the main system board...

again, if anyone can provide pin out info on the main board to the CD unit, that will be much appreciated
