Ok, so I started a thread before about problems I've been having with an MVS-4-25 and I did have some great replies.

Updates are as follows

The ringing was the marquee lights; depending on the game highlighted the marquee ringing is different pitched, so it should just be a simple light exchange, but where do I find them?

I changed over the mobo to a new (second hand - looks new) 4 slot mobo (i'm not sure what revision - or even if there is a revision for 4 slots?), nice and shiny but still... Nothing
I get a faint crackle of an image infrequently upon bootup, but it's not always, and it's very infrequent.
I'm not getting any game sounds (but thats because it hasnt booted a game when it starts up - right?).
of course I've looked in the back and made sure all connections are tight, but I just don't know!..

Please, I'm at my wits end now, help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope.

is your power supply good? you check voltage levels at the jamma harness while powered on?

Well, when I plugged a 1 slot into the jamma harness I get sound (again, infrequent flickers of screen image, nothing substantial and never for more than a second).
Before I actually swapped the mobo over I had the error come on screen for about 5 seconds. So the screen does work, it's just when and how it wants.
Any thoughts?

Fix the monitor before you try to diagnose anything else.

It sounds like you have some bad solder joints on it.

Well, if thats the diagnosis, what do i do?

Uh.... get a soldering iron and resolder the cracked solder joints?

Seriously... Look up how to discharge a monitor on You Tube. Take the chassis out for the monitor, order a cap kit (Bob Roberts or Zanen), install it, and while you're at it, resolder any cracked solder joints.

There are videos on You Tube about recapping monitors too.

OK, so for some reason today the monitor just started working.
SO that doesn't seem to be a problem now.
However, now after the initial green start up the screen just goes white (or blue depending on the black level).
Any idea what this could mean?
