Been getting more and more into shmups lately (been playing Last Hope , Pulstar, Castle Shikigami II, R-Type, and now R-Type Final) and finally received a copy of R-Type Final I had won on ebay...

I am blown away by it...so far can't get past stage three, but only played a few hours. Hands down one of the most artistic, creative, and downright fun shmups I have gotten my hands on so far!

Never really read a ton about it though, so I was pleasantly suprised when I popped the game in and found what I did

Just felt like writing that haha

The slowdown makes it feel like a chore. That battleship stage, geez, just feels like it's dragging on forever...

I should go back and replay it someday, though.

I am stuck on the battleship stage...but there isnt much slowdown really? At least not yet

But I cannot get past the 3rd stage (battleship) where the large Mech comes out for the mid-boss battle. Cannot seem to get past his three shot canon, and when you die it kicks you back like 3 minutes to fight him again. Hard to remember his pattern

Been working on it though. I definately like the game alot, and so far there hasnt been much slowdown at all

Yea, that's what killed the game for me. It could have been epic, but with all that slowdown it made it unplayable at parts.

I did dig the vast ship selection.

Gradius V > R-Type Final :buttrock:

I really like Final but something about it just seems off. Awesome soundtrack though...

I insist on owning it although I rarely play it. If I'm playing a PS2 shooter...I'd rather spend time with Gradius V or Raiden 3.

I have been playing R-Type III a lot lately for the SNES. I love the game and it is really getting me into the R-Type games. I want to get Final next. If you haven't played R-Type III yet, I highly recommend it.
