I'm having some monitor issues, and I'm hoping somebody could shed some light on this for me.

I brought home a big red cab a while ago. It worked fine when I tested it on location, but it started giving me problems as soon as I got it home. The screen rolls vertically. I had a buddy of mine come over and fool around with it, he said I needed a new power supply so he loaned me one of his. It didn't fix the problem, but the next day after a little gentle shaking the screen stabilized.

But every now and then the monitor does the same thing when I power on and I need to shake it up a little.

I'm wondering if this is a sign of my monitor slowly dying on me, or just some loose wires. Also is this something that a cap kit would fix? I wouldn't think so, but my arcade knowledge is still pretty limited.

Sounds like you may have some cold solder joints. Check especially the harness for the yoke. The solder holding the pins in will sometimes crack. Could be a dying cap though. Cap kit wouldn't hurt and check for cracked joints while you have it out.

Great, that's some good info. It doesn't sound too difficult, hopefully I can fix this myself.
