Let me begin by first saying I have manage to reboot a battery dead cps2 all in one black board. It powers up but it has graphics problems. This can be due by either a technical aspect I have over looked or the fact that the two donated all in one boards I'm using have water damage on their surface with extreme rust around the surface mount components. I ask if their is someone out there with a dead all in one MVC board that is in good condition they could let me have or borrow I can bring this project home and post direction to the community.

Well since I couldn't find any volunteers due to obvious lack of interest I managed to track down and buy a dead all in one in good condition. It turns out my original theory and experiment to reboot the board was sound and initial failure was the cause of damage to the pcb unrelated to a dead battery. Below is a side by side pic of a stock simm board and a hacked phoenix one, the original is at the top and the hacked one is at the bottom. All I have at the moment is my cheap camera so you have to excuse the burr.

Great job man, if I had a single CPSII game I would have sent it. I only have A+B board games.

Not really, its been a big money trap.

I originally had no interest in researching this project on account of me not having any all in one boards myself. I was presented with two free dead all in ones so I figured I could eat the cost of the over head with the benefit of walking away with at least one good board but due to the extreme damaged to both it didn't work out that way. So I had to go out and buy a all in one in good shape because I was already in to deep which brought the final cost of this adventure to $300 in the hole for something with minimal interest.

I know the single units were only an handful of titles but is there anything out there on how many were produced?

Beats me as the A+B combo was still the most dominate format up until the bitter end. I don't stumble on the single format too often and considering I am no stranger to coming across cps 2 stuff that should mean something.

Yeah, I just figured if there was a decent amount out there maybe you could get some funds back providing a service since you put the time in...

Nah, software raz gig. I was going to test some cps3 theories out but I don't have that much time or the money.

Great job, man! I feel bad about getting you into this now.... I didn't expect you to put so much of your own money into it...

Basically replacing the cpu on the cart with a unlocked SH2, using a decrypted bios and loading unencrypted software from the cd rom

Setup a donation page! I'm sure it would spark interest. I myself would donate at a minimum $25.

Hard part is finding the proper SH2 CPU. They made so many different versions, each with different # of pins and with different pinouts.

Basically I need assistance with the software end of things and only raz or the mame team can help with that. I have all the parts and equipment already.

About the SH2, well its a shot in the dark as I don't know the spec of the one used on the cps3 cart. I basically plan to start with a saturn/stv CPU

Tank you for your responses, but I can't sent any PM to Mainman.
Help!

I see your in Europe, I've gotten a few request from there but everyone of them opted out due to the cost of the procedure (parts and labor) Its not a simple software upgrade like the standard cps2 board, there is surface mount work involved in addition to needing two obsolete and expensive flash roms, and wrapping it all up with shipping both ways

OK, I understand your point of view.
Can you just send me an e-mail in order to discuss about that?
Thank you.
