Picture position...

Well, I managed to get most of the minor probs I had with my 1 slot MVS sorted out, thanks to the help of people here... but I got one last quick question: Is there any way I can move the position of the picture on my TV at all? I am running the MVS through my supergun, and my TV always pushes stuff through scart to the left a bit, which means part of the picture is cut off at the edges. Is there any way to adjust this (I'd guess there isn't), or would I need to play about with the settings on my TV?

If I need to adjust my TV, does anyone know a place to get info about the service modes on Sony Trinitron TV's at all? I know there is a way to do this on my TV through the service mode, but I can't seem to find the method to access it anywhere... any help would be appreciated!

It's a shame there is no way to adjust the picture position/size on the MVS itself, like you can with most Playstation games these days... that would have made things much easier

When I was first testing my supergun I had that problem, but it was the top which was slightly cut off.

That was on a 25" sony. When I finished the 'gun I moved it over to a 29" sony where the picture was perfectly placed.

I can't think of any simple way of fixing a home made sg to alter the picture position.

Can you try yours on another tv??

there are so-called picture shifters for scart, but they're hard to get.

I haven't tried it on any of the other TV's in my house yet, but I think it would probably be the same as they all have a habit of shifting the picture to the left I may give it a go and see what it looks like on them, but I really want the picture perfectly placed on this TV

Arakon: I'll maybe have a look and see if I can find them... I haven't seen them anywhere before, but it would definitely be handy if I could get one!

Thanks for the info both!

Here's a good reference for the service menu on Wega sets:

Unfortunately, depending on the source, I find that making the picture size/position consistent across all media is impossible. When I fixed it so my Neo's picture was perfectly in line with the edges of my TV, I found that it was undersized for my PS2 by about an inch on the left and right side. And during dark scenes, my DVD's picture was too short. Not to mention all of the geometry problems I've begun to notice over the past year of ownership, none of which are really fixable in the service menu. Making one adjustment tends to introduce more problems than it solves.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed in the set considering what I paid for it. I'm definitely going with the Toshiba next time.

Its been awhile but I seem to remember a radio shack gizmo that took a video signal in for minor adjustments and spit it back out. It was mainly for low end video post production. You could adjust the sharpness brightness etc, but it also allowed the movement of the image. I don't know if they make them anymore and they were around a $100, but it would solve the problem....
