I am picking up an Atomiswave SD this Friday! I plan to use my PC (SF4) until I get more money for some PCBs.

I am a noob when it comes to arcade cabinets.

Since the monitor is tri-sync, I believe it should have VGA input. If I was to connect my console or pc through VGA, is there a way I can wire the pc to the cabinet speakers? I am aware that I will be getting mono sound instead of stereo since I don't have a sound amp.

I was planning to order an I-Pac for controls.. or should I get a J-Pac instead?

If everything is too complicated, I am thinking about paying someone to set up everything for me in socal. If that don't work, I guess I will just replace the cabinet speakers with pc speakers or something lol.

Will update thread soon with pictures and info.

Thanks.

Congrats. Post some pics of your cab when it comes in. I have an AWSD and yes it does have VGA input. I've never hooked it up to a PC, but it shouldn't be too hard and you have a wealth of knowledge here in the tech forums. I'm sure the search feature should turn up something similar to what you want to do. Good luck and save for those PCB's. :buttrock:

Congrats those AWSD's are beautiful. I believe for the sound your going to need a amp, last time I looked at my cousins pc setup thats how it was. But as loegan suggested search and you will find what you need.

You could buy a J-Pac. It would provide the audio(Mono) and the controls. I just dont know if the controls would be recognized in that actual game. Every game is different, only thing 100% with a J-Pac is MAME control wise.

As far as the audio, I don't crank my games up. A simple 1/8 jack stereo cable hacked for the J-Pac and plugged into the PC Audio Out suited my needs.

I remember when I got my first cab. Goddamn that was great! But week after that my monitor died and I had to buy new one and install it (took me about two month). But after that life was great ;) Congrats for one of greatest invest that can be made, but be prepared that shit can happen when you modify or even when you dont do anything with these machines!
