Trying to convert my AW cab so it can be completely jamma compatible. Currently my other PCB's play great but there is NO sound. Took a closer look at the connections and found this:

So, there is no speaker connection at all :(

The sound is going directly to the AW and using stereo:

I found a picture (from a thread on this site) with the pin outs...

QUESTIONS:

1. Would it be possible to somehow SPLIT 2 of the wires in the 2nd picture and connect them to the speaker + and - so that I can keep the stereo when using AW and still get sound when using JAMMA boards?

2. If the answer to 1 is yes, which wires? (L+, L-, R+, R-..etc) - I guess what I'm really asking is how do you convert 4 stereo wires to mono?

3. Will a regular crimped computer molex pin work in the jamma connector?

I'd like to be able to use both but if it comes down to it, I am willing to sacrifice the stereo connector and just use mono for everything... I think there's a dip switch on the AW to use the sound off the jamma board.

Thanks!!!

PS. it's my first cab so go easy on me. I can't get to the speakers themselves without removing or messing around with the monitor which I'm not ready to do yet for fear of death from the flyback trans...

If the last 2 grounds on the jamma harness are ONLY connected to ground then move those 2 grounds to the 10 an L pin places. You should be able to get mono off the jamma edge on the AW but if you want stereo then add in a mono/stereo switch.

I'm going to try that now.

I know it will probably work because you definitely know what you're talking about. I just want to understand:

Why am I using L? From what I find online it seems that is Video GREEN ??

I can't get to the speakers in the top, all I have are those 8 wires. but I guess I'll have to try and see how the speakers are currently wired.

Thanks again for answering my questions.

I believe green is N or P.

10 is Speaker +
L is Speaker -

OK great.

I just grabbed some wire from an extra harness I had. Can I use that instead of taking out the grounds on the end?

I have 2 speakers.

This is what it looks like behind one:

Where do I connect the + and - ??

I have 2 speakers.. 4 connection points total.

Yes, if you have a spare harness take the pins from those which is preferred.

As far as the speakers go you can connect them in series.

Speaker + (Jamma 10) to
+
Left Speaker
-
+
Right Speaker
-
to Speaker - (Jamma L)

So basically you take Jamma 10 and connect it to the + on the left speaker, take the - from the left speaker and connect it to the + on the right speaker then connect Jamma L to the - on the right speaker.

Last question:
Can I leave the connections that are there for the AW and try to do BOTH??

Thanks again for putting up with me.

I don't think you can do it in series. Might be better for you to make a stereo/mono switch. When playing jamma you can use the mono and switch it to stereo for atomiswave.

No matter what... Ad some speaker connections to the jamma edge of that Cab... Kinda wortless to have a Jamma Cab without speaker wires hookt up.
