NGPC turns off when lightly tapped

I've taken really good care of my US launch system and I never had any trouble till recently. If I'm playing a game and say, pause it and set it aside on a table, the light bump will turn it off. When I turn it back on it displays the initial set up screen. If I purposely give it a (very) light smack I can recreate the issue 100%. This will only happen with a game is being played. I've tried cleaning contacts, stretching the battery springs, padding the battery compartment, changing all batteries and I was about to open it up to look for loose parts until I ran into that tri-wing screw. This is really bumming me out and I'd hate to have to buy a new system! Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Buy a tri-wing driver, open it up, disassemble and reassemble it. Hopefully it's just a loose battery to board connection or a dirty/loose interconnect.

Not sure how set in those tri wings are, but if you've got a harbor freight near you, they sell a security bitset for 8 bucks.

If you are using rechargeable batteries make sure the contact on the battery are clean. I noticed on some batteries it develops a film and messes with connectivity. I just lightly sand the ends of the battery when that happens.

So I took it apart and compared what I saw to the only image I could find of the PCB on the whole internet and everything seemed to be fine to my untrained eyes. Any suggestions as to what to look for?

give a closer look at the edge connector pins and their soldering since it only happens when using a game.

I believe I had this problem before:

Check the actual memory battery, the circle button cell battery. Take this battery out and reset it in the bezzle and make sure it is tight. I know before I replaced this battery and my ngpc took some shock and the battery completely popped out from the cover not being securely tightened. If its not set in correctly the battery can easily pop up and out.

Otherwise just double check the connectors for your x2 AA batteries, make sure when they are set in that the connectors stay against the batteries properly.

I believe I've fixed it by doing something as simple as cleaning my games! Time for some card fighters!
