I have the Dreamcast adapter but of some reason its only recognizing L and R buttons and not the Z and C buttons. Is there anything some simple soldering can do to fix this?

If I could join L and Z together.
R and C together.

THat would be awesome
Thanks!

Simply trace the buttons back to the IC and connect the relevant pins.

No you do not desolder the chip. Just trace what pins each buttons go to and join the 2 you want to be connected.

The adapter works perfect with most games like Street fighter Alpha 3 but only R L buttons work with SF 3rd Strike.

I am fairly decent at soldering but I have know idea how to trace connections back.

you might as well post the pinout for the chip for all buttons to help future modders.

Well I seem to be running into a problem.

The inside connection. R & C works great.

The L & Z connection seems to shut the power down on the adapter.

I dont know if that solder point next to the Z point on the right end has anything to do with it.

It touches like the point on the left end does.

So close but so far. :conf:

Hey, I don't know if you need this, or if anyone else does... I dug out my notes from a few years ago from when i was doing a saturn neo pad. heres the pinout for the saturn IC and corresponding buttons on the controller, I decided to throw together a little diagram for it:

saturnpad_ic.jpg

Note that I only have the buttons mapped out.
Hope this helps anyone who needs it!

yeah, the small circle on the ic shows where the first pin is, it would be the leftmost leg attached to the ic (not the solder point off to the side that isn't a leg)

You connected pin 5 (L) to pin 12 (ground) so L is always on/pressed. Z is pin 8.

It touches like the point on the left end does.
