DEBUG bios from the neostore- Maybe this was a fail mistake buying it from there instead of the universal. IDK. Other note, i did this on a japanese Aes, is the mod not suitable for a jap system?

Yup, did the stack method as the instructions say coming with the bios chip.Mustve checked/soldered each pin 3 times each checking the connections over and over, nothing.

System doesnt turn on, not even as much as a static click audio wise, not even a flicker visual wise.

Cooked system?

Bad idea going with the stack method versus unsoldering old chip and fitting in new one? Any ideas?

Bury it out in my backyard? :oh_no:

Did you double check that you had pin one lined up and not have the chip backwards?

This.

And make sure you didn't cut any of the 3 traces by pin 2. But it sounds like neither of the bios is getting power.

well the chip has that notch facing left.

I placed the debug chip the same way ontop of that, both notches on the chips left. Neither the instructions(same as the ones from the uni bios) nor the chip declare any markings of #'s of pins.

SO IDK wtf on that note. Taking it back apart now to double check a few things I didnt look at before. Seeing now a fragment of solder is laying across some traces, so i need to get in there and clean it up....Ill post up after trying that.

Yup, no dice.

Anyone know of places that repair such issues?

Kpj offered up repairs, its either one of two things...A. My shoddy soldering job on the bios stack(equipment I have sucks) or B. Damaged trace or something else on the board.

WELP!!

I just got around to testing each individual solder from the top of the New bios chip the corresponding pin on the bottom of the circuit board to confirm connection, everyone checked out/connected.

Checked my AC adapter to assure it was outputting and not blown - fine.

Does anyone know if perhaps the Neo-store bios chip has reverse pin settings? I.e not matching both notches to the left?

Ya but did you cut pin 2 on the old bios and lift it? You might have cut one of the 3 traces next to pin 2.

Yea snipped it bent it out, not even a single mark around those 3 traces to the right of the pin 2 area on pcb.

Also the onboard led doesnt even flicker or anything.....

Wouldn't I get some type of signal at least on the TV if a trace was shot?

If the onboard LED doesn't turn on then you have a problem not related to the bios.

Just send it to someone to fix it. Maybe your PSU isn't working.

By the switch does it have a 5 pin or 3 pin regulator? Should be right under the reset button.

Is your PSU 9v, 10v, 11v or 12v?

If you have a +5v PSU then thats the problem.

Might need something with a little more juice since the +10v supplies are only 7 watt I believe. If you have a genesis or megadrive PSU lying around give it a try. To me it sounds like something on the board died because even with a weak PSU you should at least see some garbage on the screen.
