OK, I'm gonna be building a general purpose Supergun, which means that I can't rely on the MVS's wonderful headphone sound output anymore to give me a nice 5V sound wave that I can feed into my TV/Stereo and not blow them up in the process.

Here's my question: Those of you who have Superguns and use the standard JAMMA sound output, do you step down the voltage or just adjust the volume slider all the way down to get it at an acceptable level? See that solution might work for an MVS, but I don't think the Hyper has a volume adjustment, and I definitely want a Hyper board. So here is what I THINK may be a decent solution:

Build a small circuit using two Inverting Amplifiers. I have to use Inverting Amplifiers since they will allow me to have a gain less than one (aka Attenuation). The first amplifier will basically have gain set to 5/12 so as to give me a 5V driven sound wave. Problem is it'll be 180 out of phase, so I'll put in another inverting amplifier with a gain of 1 to get the signal back into its original phase (pretty sure this is necessary, I may be wrong but it can't hurt to put it in there).

Anyway, I'd gladly take some help from people who have a Hyper or equivalent board hooked up w/ the JAMMA sound being fed into their TV. How do you guys have it set up?

Hyper does have a volume adjustment. Most PCBs have.

That's a good question and when designing my SuperGun, I had to do quite a bit of diggin' (I've never had experience with sound stuff). Anyway, you are in luck! They have dedicated items that do exactly what you are trying to do. It's called a Line Level converter. They come in Stereo or Mono, depending on what you are going to use them for. I bought mine for $10.00 at a local electronics store. You could probably find one cheaper.

Here's a pic:
