I am trying to connect my Neogeo to the rvbs input of a dvdo edge(a scaler).
The result is that colors are strange, the image has no luminance, it s all green and yellow.
I am using a scart for the neo, and from that scart I use a female scart to 4 RCA(RVBS).
I wonder if it could come from the fac that S is not the real Sync

Anybody had the same issue ?

Make sure you are using the right scart cable. There are 2 types and have different pinouts. Euro and Japan.

Also some AES might have a dirty sync signal so if your scaler doesn't have a sync cleaner then you may need one, unless you do the RGB bypass.

I wonder, is there any difference in SCART output between Japanese and PAL systems? When I tried mine connected by SCART, it looked like ass. The SNES and Genesis, however, look super sharp and colorful.

Neobitz component out for the win!:vik:

Xian Xi you seem to confirm me what I thought:
The problem comes from the sync which is in fact a composite.

I did not do the rgb bypass because I am using a 3-5 and my rgb is already not bad.
I wonder if doing the mod would really help me to solve that sync problem. The mod has anything to do with the composite/sync signal ?
Is it hard to do on a 3-5 ?

http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/neo/video.htm

This tutorial says to just cut 3 traces on the motherboard, does it work on 3-5 ?

Thanks for help

The 3 traces are only on the 3-6 revision to get rid of the vertical lines.

The mod is simple but you might just want to install a sync cleaner.

When I made some Neo video modules that plug into the back of the AES I had to add sync cleaners to both of them. Before I added them the picture was really messed up and funky looking. Weird colors and not centered picture. The colors were mostly green, purple and white.

I don't have much skills in electronics and doing the mod seem simplier than installing a sync cleaner.
Is LM1881 ok to clean the sync, what did you use ?
Is not there an easy way to do that, like a bpxed version of a sync cleaner with composite sync input and clean sync output or H + V sync output ?

Just one word of advice with the sync cleaner, try placing a switch to make it selectable in order for you to compare the results. I got some negative results with the LM1881 with some systems:

These videos show CPS-2 games on an XRGB-3 using an LM1881, but other systems had the same issues (Neither my MVS or AES suffer these effects though)

TurboCro: Yes the Japanese and PAL RGB pinouts are very different.
