Hey guys,

i need a little help with 2 of my MVS-carts. The first one, an AOF 3, doesnt give me sound on my CMVS (2-Slot), but it does on the 1 Slot (with supergun). Has this something to do with the fact that the 2-slot outputs stereo while the 1-slot does only mono?

The second one is a RBFF, which doesn't work everytime i put it in a slot. Also, sometimes the Unibios gives me a 'Hardware Test Failed: Bios Section'-Error when the cart is in. And it seems to influence other carts. in the board as well (exception error on slot-change and so on).

Anyone have an idea whats going on here? Thanks in advance!

Bios section error usually means that there is a broken trace to the bios, usually between pins 21-30 from my experience but check if you see any broken traces. Could also be the bios is just not in the socket good. Just pop it out and put it back in.

Clean your cart and your cart slots on your 2 slot. Clean the cart with a pink eraser. You will need to open the cart to do this. For the cart slot you can use pure rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush. Just make sure you let it completely dry before you power the board.

Thanks. I cleaned the AoF 3-cart and the sound is back. The RBFF, however, still does not work properly. I also checked the BIOS and could not find any issues (thought so, cause it works with every game but the RBFF).

So i guess the problem is definately with the RBFF-cartridge, not the boards. Most likely a problem with the decryption, if that cart. already has one. The weird thing is that it works sometimes and after reinsertion it doesn't anymore. I already cleaned the shit out of the pins (with an erazor and alcohol) and still ...

Hmm. :(

Sounds like the RBFF might have some cracked solder joints or even a broken trace. Open the cart and inspect the solder joints. Reflow the solder on any weird looking solder joints.

For the broken traces it is usually on the CHA board near the 2 big holes. The plastic mounts rub on those traces and eventually it cuts them on the newer games.

Also, check the little legs connected to the contacts in the cart. Those tend to corrode and loose connection. To fix those you can solder a small wire to the inner part of the contact and the pin of the chip it goes back to.
