Thanks. Sometimes it pays to work graveyard shift and pull some "newly listed" searches.

yeah not a bad deal. Have you recieved it yet? The seller's got like 40 feedback and only 97% positive. Also he had another AES sale just like it for $150 and used the same picture. Turns out he didn't send an AC adaptor with it (which isnt a big deal if you have a genny)

eh he didnt include the av cable, I misread. Still not a huge deal.

He listed it before but I didn't buy it since the cover was really scratched up. But before it didn't have free shipping it was like $20 via ground or parcel.

Just noticed that this deal may be a little shady. It appears that the seller sold this same system earlier this month (sans av chord). The buyer left positive feedback, but now the seller magically has the system back. I'm guessing that the buyer later found something wrong and threatened a charge back. I just sent the seller this message:
Hello, I just bought this AES system. Upon further research, I see that you sold the exact same system not long ago for $150. Obviously, the previous winner returned it after paying and recieving the system. Please save us the hassle and let me know what is wrong with the system now. I see that the previous winner stated that you didn't include the AV cord. That is not "in good working condition." If there is nothing wrong with the system, let me know and ship it. If there is, I will find out and get my money back through paypal. I don't mean to be hostile, but if there is something wrong it will benefit us both to work it out now. Thanks,

Nathan

Comes across as hostile if you ax me. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to go forward with the deal. lol.

Heh, that's not nearly as hostile as I would have been.

Here's hoping it works out for you man. Assuming it's kosher, that is a solid deal.

It needs to be a little hostile. If there's something fishy with this console, I want him to be afraid of a chargeback. It's better to get my money back now than to have to file a claim when the console doesn't work. Keep in mind, this console was previously sold for $150 and returned. I only found that out by checking his prior feedback. The feedback also told me that it is missing the AV cable, which he didn't mention in the listing. He says it's in "good working condition". Kind of hard to tell if it's working without an AV cable.

If it was returned for a legit reason, why did he relist it for HALF of what he previously sold it for? Why wouldn't you sell it for the same price that it already sold for once?

As collector's piece would be interesting, but I prefer to play emulator with all games.

No offense but this is something you should have done BEFORE you bid on it.

Umm....no. I am a powerseller with 99.9% positive feedback. It is NOT the responsibility of the buyer to research whether or not you are a shitty seller. It is the sellers responsibility to accurately describe the item. Buying an item on ebay should (ideally) require NO research by the buyer, other than reading the description.

Your explanation is the equivalent of a sexual predator saying that the victim was "asking for it". Not trying to be offensive, but that the best example I can think of.

You're right. It's not your responsibility to make sure you're not being scammed.

Well, for one, it's impossible that I'm being "scammed". There's a little thing called buyer protection. If it doesn't work, I get my money back. As an experienced ebay seller, I know the system. And here's a nice emoticon for you jackass. :make_fac:

There's also a little thing called buyer beware as well as common sense. The fact that you just 'assumed' the guy was a good seller is just idiotic. Sure you might be a great seller, but you're a pretty naive buyer. Japhei would just love the shit out of you.

Hope it works out for you but if not, then maybe you'll learn something and in the future you'll 'read the fine print' as it were.

I guess my buying strategy is different from yours. As long as something is covered by paypal, you should buy anything that's a great deal, regardless of the seller. Why? Because you can ALWAYS get your money back. And I mean, ALWAYS. More often than not, you will get a good deal. Occasionally, someone will TRY to scam you. It doesn't work. Paypal with always refund your money if you have a legit complaint. Had I known before hand that this guy might be shady, I still would have made the purchase. Best case, I get a steal on an AES and games. Worst case, I lose nothing.

It's different in that you don't have a strategy. You just bid on things without doing the research, then realize that there might be something fishy going on after the auction is ended, and then waste time either waiting for the seller to never respond, or explain why he's selling a returned item with a 'no returns' policy and then dealing with Pay Pal to get your money back. Not only is that naive, it makes you a pain in the ass buyer that other sellers wouldn't want to deal with in the future.

I'd have asked what the deal was before even bidding on it and not wasted time or have to deal with dealing with PayPal to return my money. But then again, I'm not a naive buyer, I'm more careful.

Like I said, I hope it works out for you and you get everything you pay for, but if not - chalk it up to buyers naivete and learn from your mistakes.
