What are these sockets for? (if anything)

I was fitting a new bios to my 4 slot last night and got down to the bottom board and saw these sockets.

Just thought it was interesting, they aren't populated as you can see and obviously don't need to be, but why are they there at all then?

Hah! I was going to ask this same question as well. The silkscreen designates them as being for 1mbit ROMs the same as the BIOS ROM. Other than that, I have no idea. I hope someone can shed some light on this. 8D

I'd also be interested to know about the second bank of dipswitches that is unpopulated, and the populated but unused two-pin connector on the top-board near one of the big caps. (There's also an unpopulated spot for an identical connector on the bottom board)

I think the top two-pin connector is for an extra 12V power connection, I remember MKL stating so on another site.

Wow<those things.empty sockets.
Yea there was a very very very old topic about this that I remember reading, being curious as i had seen these too having taken a board apart a long time ago...

Something about them being made..for an upgrade or..something SNK didn't get around to using I think..
