I had never seen this on-screen coin and service counter.

I just got this game today and it is the only of the several CPS-2 games I have that displays this. I already reset the game to fractory settings and changed A boards to see if that was the cause. I also disconnected the physical coin counter and it didn't help.

Never seen that before, there certainly isn't an option.

No it is not a boot, it was "sealed" with the capcom stamps, I opened it to clean it and to change the battery. It is there almost all the time.

It shows teh current coin and service credits used, so I doubt it is coruption...

I'd make sure the A & B boards are making a perfect connection. I've had that happen before.

I'll try that agiain.. but I tested it with several A boards and it always was the same. If that is the case maybe the B board has some issue.. but the game works perfectly fine otherwise.

I also vaguely remember seeing this on a SSF2. I have reason to believe it's a legit feature, and there should be a way to turn it off.

Check for bent pins on the four connectors under the b-board.

Checked for bent pins, none are. Here's another pic, in game this time:

It looks like a feature rather than a glitch. You sure there isn't an option in the test menu?

Is it original battery or phoenix. Could it be a corrupt rom?

It has the original battery, I was going to replace it this week.

The same thing happens in my super turbo board when the screen is flashing on the ryu closeup.

Well it turned out it is the way that version of the game is, it was an undumped CPS-2 version of the game (hispanic). After dumping it and sending it to Razoola and the MAME team, it is finally emulated with it's glorious counter.
