Hi, I just received a Shock Troopers MVS cart and it's very different from the MVS carts I'm used to.
It's red, in the label says MADE IN KOREA C SNK 1997 and in the cart says VIC-A. It doesn't have the triangle thing in the inferior part.
The seller is reliable and has told me the cart is original and not a bootleg, and I believe him. I just want to know what's the story about this cart. Are others like this? Only from this game?

Thanks for your attention.

I have a pinkish/redish MVS Shock Troopers. It's legit, as I cracked it open to check and all the chips are SNK brand, real deal, 100%. Mine also has the VIC-A and also Made is Korea. You got a real cart, so don't worry about it.

I had the same question about a month ago :) . I have the exact same cart you are describing. I was told not to worry and they were legit.

It seems that since a few just popped up that they are less likely to be boots. I've heard of red Shocktroopers carts before, but the label looked suspicious since it's different from a typical MVS label.

I have a red one too, and I got it from a reliable source. Not to worry.

Here it explains bootlegs in general:
http://www.neogeousa.com/kof2k1/kof.html
and about this Shock Troopers cart it says:

Can you tell if a MVS cart is official from its sticker? The answer is no, a good example of this would be Shock Troopers 1 - This game has 4 different cart stickers which look very different from the next. The Korean version is red with "Shock Troopers" in white with no serial number while the US version is gray with black words and has a serial number. NeoTurfMasters has many versions as well some with a holographic overlay and some without. This makes it impossible to tell just by the sticker.

Well, I've just got another MVS red cart, this time KoF 98. However in the label it says "SNK 1998 MADE IN JAPAN" so it's not one of those Korean carts. The label is in English and has serial number 021787.
I've peeped through the holes and the chips I saw were marked Toshiba. I've got it from a friend of mine in exchange of Real Bout 2.

So are there more red MVS carts out there?

I got ahold of a Red RBS, SS4 also exists in red, as I have seen and image before. In my report you will find the physical differences of the other side. Labels vary.

Anyone who wants to drop me a Vic-A can email me and offer at lwkusa@hotmail.com

Also, I have never seen a vic a cart with any Eeproms. Not one.

I have a KOF98 just like that on it's way to me from Germany. The guy I'm trading with says it's legit, and I'm sending his game out after I receive KOF98 so I don't see why he would lie about it. Maybe it's just a freak of the SNK plant.

Just because it's a Korean version doesn't mean it's a bootleg

I never said it was a bootleg, I was just pointing to that link if you want to know more about bootlegs. It mentions that cart, but it doesn't say it is a bootleg.

I agree that you could infer that I considered it a bootleg from my post, but that was not my intention. Check:
