ok thanks, that's weird

its not uncommon these days for shmups to give you credits for playing for x amount of hours. Ikaruga and Under Defeat are some other examples. I want to say Shiki 3 is the same way, but I honestly don't remember.

I think its a pretty good way to encourage folks to try to play as far as they can before they coinfeed. By the time you have freeplay unlocked you prolly improved in skill quite a bit.

Yeah I'd suggest doing everything you can to avoid coinfeeding, at least until you are breezing thorough the first few levels of a game with great scores and cockblocked on some boss late in the game. Then coinfeeding a bit is a good way to get some practice without having to waste a half-hour getting there.

Some of the console ports are nice in that they let you practice levels and such. I don't remember if this one does but the menu system is pretty busted anyways.

practicing in this game sucks since it does not have options for practice mode. So basically you can't configure rank and your powerups. you just rush into X stage with a pea-shooter and pray. At least they could have giving you some weaponary that would resemble your equipment at that point. Also you can't pick if you do the whole stage or start at the boss.

@ IcBlUsCrN, IMO I would suggest not playing too much of X-mode. It's just because if you get to used to the bullet canceling you'll have a hard time playing the real game.

If he doesn't have extra credits unlocked, he sure as hell won't have X-Mode unlocked.
