Capacitors on KoF 2000 progtop

Ok, thats the deal: I recently purchased a KoF 2k MVS-cart - checked the PBCs, all original. But i noticed that one of the two little capacitors on the Prog-board was gone.

Does someone know what these little caps are doing, exactly? Can the game maybe damage the motherboard? It runs flawless, btw. Oh, and Metal Slug 3 uses the same PBCs if that helps.

I would be happy if someone knows a bit more about this. Thank you in advance.

Are they blue or silver? If they are blue they are usually used for filtering and suppressing power spikes during data transfer since they are shot out in bursts iirc.
