I was playing KOF 2002 the other night, and I always went w/ Japan as the region, but somehow I ended up on US mode instead... (Unibios)

And there are different music tracks / the stages show up in a completely different order

Tried it with KOF 98 as well, and the same thing

So I was wondering...why the changes? It has no bearing on how the game plays, and its not like its any more 'Americanized' like Matrimelee tends to be.

Still havent tried FF Special yet, but may do that this evening

So my real question..is this a one-off trend, or do most / many Neo-Geo games go with this 'switching' method as well?

That’s different! Do you think the changes in the games add to the overall fun?
At some point I may pick up unibios.

I recently picked up a backup 4 slot mobo (MVS), and I own a bust a move cart, and on both of my cabs at the title screen displays bust a move, but, on my backup it displays puzzle bobble..... hummm? Anyone have an answer for this?

I have looked in the setup screen, and do not see where (If) I can change this. I do not have unibios.......yet.

It's just a different bios ... US/JP.
And depending on what region you have installed on your MVS, that will determine what region settings are used for hte game. That is why you see different title screens depdnign on which MVS board you have the cart in... they each have a different bios in them.

If you replace the original bios with a unibios, then you can set which region (and hardware type) you want at your leisure.

I assumed as much.
I have yet to play and see if their are any in game differences on multiple carts, as I just wanted to test and see what was working on it. (slots, sound, functions etc.) It will be a project for later date, as I have a lot on my plate already. Thanks for the help!

So far both KOF 98/2002 have musical and stage arrangement differences

FF Special appears to have american flags in some of the asian stages where the JPN bios setting does not, but I am working on memory. Will test it out later

It's also worth noting that PUZZLE BOBBLE/B-A-M will show up as PUZZLE BOBBLE in the 'Asia' BIOS as well. The Asia BIOS is sort of a toss-up, depending on the game you could get JP or US content, but English is always an available language. (English, Spanish, and Portugese usually)

As best I can tell, the Asia BIOS is pretty common. I have a dozen boards, and all but like 3 of them have it. All my 1-slot boards have it.
