I'm nearing completion on CMVS #1, its a 1fz mounted in a Jack Daniels gift box, its a bit big and clunky, but it can hold all the cables + 2 CD pads when I'm not playing it.

Since its large and bulky I really plan to make another and sell this one at some point, it was a great learning experience but will probably bother me in the long run.

I'm going to start on a new one sometime soon and do a 1c board in the same aluminum case as the Garou CMVS on Jamma Nation X, which I always thought looked really awesome. I chose the same case because I honestly can't find another aluminum case that looks nice and is large enough for a 1c board.

My first CMVS is a bit bare bones at the moment and I really want to go all out on this second one. Here's my proposed feature list, let me know if I'm forgetting anything cool or useful.

Socketed Bios mod and Universe Bios 3.0.
Stereo Mod
Neobitz with component outputs
Battery Mod
Power LED mod for a nice front panel LED.
RGB pots for video tweaking (current CMVS looks too bright and washed out on my TV).
red powder coating on the aluminum case, black bezels around each end and cart slot with white Neo Geo MVS logo on top or sizes.

I have plans to mount the Battery and RGB pots in such a way that they are accessible by simply removing one end panel, for easy tweaking that doesn't require taking off the top of the case. Thought about doing the same for the Bios socket, but that's probably unneeded.

Am I missing anything cool, or at least anything that could possible be squeezed into such a snug case?

If you are going to use the same enclosure I would suggest making the RGB pots internal since you can easily remove the side panel on the enclosure.

Also make sure you powdercoat AFTER you drill all the holes and make the controller port cut outs. If you powdercoat first you risk burning the plastic when you drill and the surrounding plastic will not have that smooth shiny look.

For that 2-slot I was making, I was considering adding more holes for things like component RCA jacks. But I'm not sure I really nead to add anything more. Maybe I should have made extra holes before getting it powdercoated anyway. So it might (or it will) burn or melt the surrounding plastic, and there's nothing you can do about it? What about if you freeze the cover before drilling it, or hold it underwater while drilling it (to disperse the heat)?

some paint shops will order in colors they don't have, that could make it easier to match MVS red if that's what you want to do.

You'd probably end up with more problems doing something like that. I'm sure you could get away with drilling but I would think you would have to have a super sharp bit.... not worth the risk though.

good point on the slot size, I was planning to make it big enough that I can put some plastic edging around the slot, so there is no sharp edge to scratch a cart if I bump the sides as I load it. I figure that will also eliminate seeing any imperfections in the slot that I cut.

I was planning for RGB pots under one side panel, like a small mounted board in there with those MVS volume control style pots, something small that require a screwdriver, just in case I want to make adjustments at some point.

Definitely going to powder coat AFTER I make every single hole I want to make. I've made that mistake before with painting things, and when I'm paying for powder coating its a serious annoyance.

Speaking of holes, does an MVS board really need any sort of ventilation? I thought I might drill some holes on the bottom, just for a little bit of airflow, but when I'm only running it on 5v and there is no more amp or heat sink do I really need ventilation?

Please make sure you post some pics upon completion, it sounds interesting:buttrock:
