How do you switch regions on a CPS2 game that has been Phoenixed?

I recently purchased a Phoenixed Alpha 3 B board off a member here, and it works great. However, out of curiosity I would like to know how to switch regions on it. It's not a big deal if I can't, but I would like to check it out anyhow. Thanks in advance.

You have to push the buttons on the board after you first turn on to get into the menu. I forget which button/buttons, but it's those three right as it says "Capcom - Phoenix Edition".

Push the test switch on the cab or the board, when you see the capcom logo with 'phoenix edition' underneath.

Ok, thanks guys. I will try that. Also, is it possible to have a Phoenixed board that doesn't say Phoenix edition?

Keep in mind with a Phoenixed CPS2 game switching the region doesn't guarantee the language will switch, if that's your primary goal. You may need to independently set the language in the A board options menu. The language option may or may not be available, depending on the region the game is set to.

Possibly if someones altered the romset or if its a bootleg board.

What game is it?

It is an Alpha 3 B board that I literally just bought from a respected member here. He swears it has been Phoenixed as he sent the chips to Raz himself. I don't think he has a reason to lie. To be quite honest, the battery never suiciding is far more important to me than changing the language. I highly doubt it it's a bootleg and it runs perfect. The only way I'll ever know is by opening the board up, which I have no immediate plans of doing.

I didn't even know the A board itself had an options menu. This is news to me. How would one access the option menu of the A board?

Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3 is one of the few CPS2 boards you can't change the region on according to Raz. It's either Japanese or English.

Thanks for the info, Chief. That's very good to know, since are rarely any differences (if any) other than the language between the Alpha and Zero games. Marvel Superheroes vs. Street Fighter on the other hand would be a different story, since it has an extra character not found in the US version (Norimaro).

No problem. I had a USA version of Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and was missing not having Norimaro after owning the Saturn port. I eventually got it Phoenixed and all is well.

Wait, you're saying that getting the board Phoenixed added Norimaro? If that's the case, then I may do the same because I also own the Saturn version and misss having him in my USA B board.

Yes, once you have the board Phoenixed you have access to all the regions, including the Japan region that has Norimaro as a playable character. He is only available when running in Japan region.

The Phoenix fix was also useful to me for games like Battle Circuit. The Euro version is very rare so I picked up a Japanese version but after Phoenixing I can switch it to Euro region and be able to take in the awesome story line.

That, and when you have tons of boards having to remember to change out the batteries is a big pain. I've already had Raz Phoenix most of my ROMs but I've still got one more batch to send him. It's because of his genius work I even started collecting CPS2 in the first place. I always loved the game but couldn't stomach the fact that my boards could die at any time if sitting idle for a while.
