Violent fighting to come again.
As a year flew by from the excitement,
we now declare the opening of our special team tournament,
....again,
in 1996!!

KoF2k1 for me please.

It's a tie with KoF95 though, can't really decide which I like better but 2k1 gives you slightly more bang for the buck so it got my vote.

Though I'd be more likely to say '02UM from a gameplay perspective, I consider '00 the best as far as atmosphere and overall presentation go (though the art direction in '02UM is by all means a significant improvement over the original '02, not to mention the soundtrack).

Definitely KOF96. It has the boss team, some of the best KOF music, and better character balance than 94 and 95.
I also like 94 and 95, as the AOF characters have air fireballs and fireballs that cross the whole screen. So there are advantages and disadvantages to both the old and new type of game engine.

95, simply the most astonishing game 'cause although 94 was great, it simply wasn't as awe inspiring as 95.

95 is just excellent in every level, stages, music, roster and system. There are better KOF's, there are more intricate KOF's, hell, there's even better music in some KOF's like the 98 track for AOF team, but still 95 is a triumph in every detail.

95 stole my heart from day one.

KOF 1997 is pretty much my favorite. I really liked the music in it as well as some of the ambience.

The music ruined '97 for me. Only the favorite characters had real music. The generic filler tracks for everyone else suck so badly. Plus after the amazing music of '96, it was such a shocking letdown. :crying:

+1

I liked the gameplay a bit more for some reason, but the aesthetics of '97 paled in comparison to '96's.

The BGM in '97 is kind of strange, but distinctive. What I really like about the game is how easy it is to play. The command input is the most forgiving in the series, and I prefer it that way.

KoF 98 UM is definitely my favourite, since it's a perfectly tweaked version of the best of the series. It's such a shame that the XBLA port was so shoddily done, otherwise it might have overtaken SSF2THDR as my fighter of choice this generation.

thats whats up!!! that pretty much sums it up in a nutshell..... but i did like 97's music scheme..... only get music for 'main players'... made it more intense when there's just fx and no music for me anyway....
