Hey all,

A friend of mine wants to sell me his converted final fight cab for $40.00, and he said he will deliver it to me. But the cabinet may be broken. He can't get Final Fight to load up, and I went over there today, and tried to load up my Willow board, and couldn't get that to work as well. He mentioned something drunkenly the other night about something being wrong with the power supply, like it came apart from the wall or something. I have no idea what he was talking about. The cabinet powers up fine, but won't load up jamma boards. All you get is a blue looking screen. This is a really old looking cabinet. But the thing has obviesly been re-wired at one point in time. The wiring looks really good. This cab was sitting in his garage for a few years without being turned on.

Basically I just want to buy this thing to see if the final fight board works. So I can keep it and sell the cabinet. The board is super clean and even has the marquee, bezel, and manual. But he wont let me take the board home to try it out cause he said he doesn't want me to "fidget" with it. He's a weird guy. Does anyone have any idea why the boards may not be loading up on this thing? If it sounds like the monitor may be done I may just say forget it. I don't wanna buy this cab and it be broken, and get a faulty final fight board, and have to find a way to get rid of it.

Make sure the cabinet is wired for JAMMA. If it isn't and you plug in a JAMMA board, you'll ruin the board. A blue screen may suggest a problem with the pcb but if your working Willow pcb didn't work, it may well be the power supply.

It is wired for JAMMA. The harness says JAMMA on it. And I played this cab about 4 years ago when it was working. If it could be a power supply problem, I could deal with that and fix it. I just don't wanna deal with a broken monitor. If anyone thinks the monitor could be a issue from sitting in the garage for years, or from not being used, please let me know. Oh, and my Willow board does work, I played it a few days ago on my caninet.

If a pcb is plugged in, turn the cabinet on and see if you can click on a credit and then hear the sounds from the game. If there is no sound, it may be more a power supply issue than a monitor issue. Someone that's more tech-savvy can probably pin-point the issue better.

Do yourself a favor and buy the cab for $40, buy a new PSU $20 and a new jamma harness $20 and wire it up yourself.

That may be a good idea. I have a Big Red Neo Geo cab right now, and it's wired for neo geo JAMMA with the seperate stereo cord. I have been wanting to fix the wiring in this thing but i'm scared i'm gonna break it. I'm not too good with stuff like that. Maybe I could just use this cab to mess around with for awhile and learn on.

$40 for a final fight pcb alone is worth it. you're also getting a cab with probably a working monitor and something you can mess around with and learn how to do some wiring. sounds like an amazing deal to me.

I would give you $40 just for the empty cabinet if I was in your area
