If only. These aren't really 1080P sized or anything, but its a huge jump in detail over the originals.

I really, really hope they use the KOF XII process to make LB3.

Money in the bank as long as they don't fuck it up.

After seeing how well Marvel vs. Capcom 2 came out looking I am hoping that Capcom and other game companies look in to releasing older 2D games with well done HD filters.

yea, I'd love to see a re-release of Capcom vs SNK2 done in the same vein as the new MvC2. It looks pretty nice for just using scaling filters instead of the full redraw. the thought of redrawing all 56 characters is frightening, it took me long enough to do those two sprites above.

Nice work on those 2 images. You should enlarge the original ones though, it's a bit hard to see the extra detail when the originals are left so small.

I wonder how hard it is for companies like SNK to upres their old sprites though... If they were hand drawn then the original source art had to be more detailed than what finally went in the game. That is unless they were really drawn at such a low resolution. But that seems like it would be more difficult than drawing at a higher resolution, downsizing, and then making micro adjustments where needed afterwards.

Benimaru's just there for size reference... he does point out something, though. When you get to bigger sprites, you really need more than 15 colors per frame. Note that the game animates the weapons as separate objects from the characters themselves, so they are not constrained by the same palette limitation. I'm not sure LB's shading style lends itself well to double-res. Then again, if it could be done to expand to 31 colors, it might be another story entirely.

Deuce, you beat me to it, thanks for posting the uprezzed originals. I shoulda done that originally.

As for color palettes, I tried to stick to the orignal colors. Attheir original size they look fine but at this larger size they definately look more cartoony then KOF XII sprites. I may try adding more colors to these for fun, I left all thecomponents in seperate layers so going back and modifying is easy enough.

Deuce, moriya and zantetsu would be next on my list if I had a list of to-do sprites. I may make more, if i do I'll let you know :-) . These were mainly limited by good screen shots availble on google at the default zoom level. If you want to send me some nice moriya or zantetsu poses i could make them easily enough. Just make sure they are native 320x240 shots with no fancy emulator filters.
