Help w/ a Ghostlop

So I'm trying to build a Ghostlop. The sac cart was a Samurai Shodown 2. I'm happy to say I have it mostly working but there's a bit of a graphics problem. Program and sound-wise, it works just fine as far as I can tell, but about half the graphics are wrong.

Some pics of the problem and the soldering job are here:

I managed to lift / obliterate some solder pads so I had to do some patch work. I'm pretty sure I got things routed to where they're supposed to be but if someone could verify it, I'd appreciate it.

Also, I left all the roms on there from SS2 that didn't have to be removed. I don't know if this is really a problem but I do know I could see some Galford in the corrupt graphics so I think removing those will be the next thing I try, although I was under the impression they could just be left on there and the program would ignore them.

Can someone help me out with this?

Unfortunately, I don't have any answers for you.

What I do have are four bootleg carts, an EPROM programmer, some blank EPROMs, and a soldering iron.

So instead of giving you any answers (I would if I could of course), I have to respond with some questions of my own. Could you possibly point me in the direction of a tutorial for creating a Ghostlop cart? I just need to know where to get the ROMs, where to solder the chips, and what carts are suitable donors.

Good luck in your search btw!!!

what size is you c1 and c2?

what it looks like to me is you do not have enough eproms for the char data.

your prog board looks correct even though i use ss1 or 2.

All I had to work with was this thread and the knowledge that SS2 and WH2J make the easiest sac carts. It's not hard as long as you don't botch up the PCB traces like I did. I found every EPROM I used on eBay. I think they came from a seller called ic-China.

C1 and C2 are both 27C322. You say you use SS1 or 2 in a way that suggests that I didn't. Is the usual SS2 prog board different from mine?

Edit: Also, if it makes any difference, I used a 27C160 w/ the image doubled for my P1.

Freakin' weird.

So could it just not be reading one of the chips? I'm not really sure which chips are responsible for what. Does it look like the problem is with C1 or C2?

Of course it's possible I used a bunk rom set for the C images.

c1 and c2 should be right since they are big enough.

i tend to use 4 27c160s

So jumpers then, maybe?

Edit: Yeah, I looked at the SS2 rom set and all the C roms are 16M. Maybe it's only reading the first 16M of these 32M roms.

Might be jumpers, on the CHA board you have:

J2
J3
J7
R1
R2
R3
R4

On a 2 rom C I had:

J2
J3
J9
J10
J11
J12

There's really not much need for that, is there? I mean, my desoldering iron is already way hotter than I should be using on these boards and I'd only be risking further damage to them. About the only practical reason I could see for it is if someone wanted to do something with the old roms. As long as it works, I'd really rather not fool with it any further.

multislots have enough problems with current draw. and extra un accessed roms mean more current

Hmm. Well I'll keep it under consideration. If I get some time and maybe a better way to desolder the things, I'll probably go ahead and do it.

That´s some sloppy work.
Yeah it is, but it's for playing, not looking or selling. :) If it was for someone else, it would be different but there are enough people with more skill doing it already that I don't really feel the need to get into that. For that matter, I can't really think of another game I'd do this with. All the other ones I want I can just buy.
