Just got a Metal Slug 2 cart off ebay and its pretty dirty. I'd just wipe the outside but its transparent green so you can see all the grime inside too.

If it had a fake label I'd rip that shit off and print a new one, but it has an original US holo label and I'd like to keep that. Is there any way to remove an original label safely so you can give the case a good wash?

I know a lot of "removing this voids your warranty" labels can be removed safely with a hair dryer, and steam removes quite a lot of adhesives. Just wondering if anyone has attempted this.

I'd try a hair dryer or heat gun to loosen the adhesive and try to carefully peel it off. If it works, put the casing in the dishwasher and it should look brand spankin new.

I think you're better off just wiping it off and working around the label carefully, like most of us do. I can't see how the label is going to go back just as good as it was unless you really know what you're doing.

What he said.

Most of my old original labels are usually also pretty dry so if you try and flex them at all it makes the ink flake and fall right off.

While the holo labels have some sort of transparent plastic holo layer applied I suspect the same would stll apply and you risk damaging this layers bond to the old paper label.

thanks for the tips. Not sure if I want to try a hair dryer on the label, I might open it enough to get the PCBs out and try to clean the inside of the case best I can, its the inside thats dirtiest, I managed to wipe the outside pretty well already.
