Ok, so I don't spend much time in "the scene" these days so I'm gonna go ahead (and look like an idiot): how rare is Sengoku 3 AES now?

I remember when the Neo Store was struggling to sell all the remaining stock. Yet these days, I hardly see one for sale! Ever!

Yup, all those carts Neostore couldn't give away became cheap sac carts. Now it's hard to find (and not worth the asking price btw).

Ah.... sac cart makes sense.

I'm in the minority, but I actually like the game. I just don't have a copy of it presently. :D

I'm not saying it's a terrible game. I wish I'd bought one when they were selling for around $100 (iirc).

I just don't think it's worth the asking price for the homecart these days, especially when the mvs cart can be had for so little.

It's definitely hard to find if you're looking to buy, but is it truly rare? A lot of people have the game, just very few people are actually selling it.

This is a problem with most of the english Neostore releases, not just Sengoku 3. Try to find an english King of Fighters 2003 for instance. Or Matrimelee. Or Samurai Shodown 5. Or Rage of the Dragons.

Right now we may all consider english games like King of Fighters 2001/2002 and SvC Chaos easy to find because Neostore still stocks them, but those games don't seem to pop up for 2nd hand sale often either.

I wouldn't say you're in the minority. A lot of people would quote it as their favorite beat em up- myself included.

At least it is down quite a bit from a high point about a year ago, I recall 3 or 4 copies sold on ebay for over 400 dollars
personally I'm glad I bought a copy at 130, totally worth it, Probably my favorite non fighter, non metal slug neo geo game, save of course bust a move
Personally I wonder how many copies were sac'ed, and more specifically how many were sacced for, ugh, Ganryu

The MVS version is pretty common

Heck, I just went into my collection and stumbled upon a complete Sengoku 3 kit.

However, Sengoku 2 is fairly rare

Conversions suck. Shit, I'd have bought a copy just to keep it from being fucked, if I'd known that's what people were doing with it...

Fuck sac carts. All my games are either 100% legit or I don't buy/use them.

i have a question directly related to the original topic question.

for those who know or have some good intuitive indication, is the Japanese version more rare than the US?

Tough call, but I'd say the english version is the harder to find of the two. I've seen about an equal amount on eBay in the last year or so, but chances are if you contact some Japanese sellers about buying Sengoku 2001 they will magically appear for sale.
