Hello to all,

Im fairly new on these forums, currently more a learker than anything, although I have made some transactions in the everything else threads!

Im not rich enough and not setup living wise to own any type of Cabs or Neo-Geo systems...I wish I was by all means I DO! I hope noone takes any offense to this.

I am also unsure if this is the correct place to be posting something of this topic. If not please refer me to the correct place. This seemed most deemable IMO. :)

I guess you could say that I am a beginner modder/repairer for older and newer consoles. When it comes to repairing the most I have worked on is Turbo Grafx, Duo, and the infamous Turbo Express! I have pulled apart original Xbox and 360 consoles. I have also done laser work in the dreamcast systems. I more or less an around the house handy man, as I like to call it. Others have refered to me as an Ace of all trades (that in no way has any connection to my signature). If its on the internet, in a manual and I can read it or just plan in my face then I can generally perform the task!

When it comes to modding, Im open for any discussion, I will do "special jobs" if you will down to replaceing LED's for a fancier look. I try to be fair with every customer I come across. I like to take pictures of my work and keep whoever's stuff Im working current with pictures of whats going on. I have also started making small clips of things!

I guess what all this long drawn out shit if for, is to basically say that "Hey, If you want or need something done, ask me!"

I have what is the beginnings of a website that I would like to see flourish into a nice Mod/Repair site. This site started out with the first system I modded, which was my Turbo Grafx-16! CLICKY

I'd like to think im well know amongst the regulars a pcenginefx.com/forums...

Here is my most recent link from Bludgeons Turbo Express repair!

Feel free to contact me if anyone wants something done! Im up for grabs, and I check my email constantly throughout the day.

Thanks,
Robert

I'd like to add that being Turbo Duo's etc seem to be what Im doing most right now, I have found some good sources for parts etc.

Im am working on what I would like to call a Duo Overhaul or complete system refurb! The process is pretty lengthy and since I usually order the parts as they are needed sometimes can make the process a little longer.

Basically I go in, check the board, look for problem areas, most everyone knows that these systems have alot of issues, sound and cd being the biggest! I will pull ALL the caps, wash the board, bake it and reflow all the pads and fix the broken traces. Clean the A/V port and reflow it or replace as needed, pull the heat elements from the heat sinks, clean them and remount with thermal paste (I was going to design a custome heatsink but thats dead in the water as of right now). Pull the M51131L sound balance chip and replace, do the same with the M5205 OKI and replace (responsible for ADPCM sound issues) and then Pull and replace both BA6290A chips (responsible for powering the cd laser). I replace the laser, and test the unit.

I am furthur taking this into depth and will start replacing and testing the Op-Amp chips (4558 General Purpose Dual Amp). After all of this is said and done and the system checks out, then a small 40x7mm fan will be added to push the heat away from the trouble area in the back left corner. I also forgot to mention all the caps from the huslot up all the way over to the a/v port are replaced with High Temp (handleing range is up to 221 degrees F) capacitors. I have system that Im overhauling this way that will be ready soon and pictures will be taken and added here.
