Hello I just bought a MVS arcade cabinet. i have owned one before so this is not my first one. I am however having a problem with the screen. If it stays on for more then 2 hours the screen goes all purple. You have to give a love tap to the side of the arcade cabinet for it to go away but it comes back 5 to 10 min later? The only thing i know is that it is a zenith and that's about it. does any one know if this is repairable or should i buy a new screen? If i should buy a new screen where can i get one? and what kind do i need to look for?

sounds like a dry solder joint on the chassis, check on the neck card around the drive transistors(chassis depending)

Ya i have no idea what this is. I don't have a very large technical knowledge on monitors. i posted some pictures so u can see what i mean. That back screen is supposed to be white. If anyone can explain a little more on what to do that would be great.

i would think it has something to do with a connection from the green input, as you are only displaying red and blue. if you have to give it a love tap then something is loose, be it a component or wire connection.

Check the monitor board connections and the color knobs for loose wire connections or cold solder joint. Also check the pcb connector to see if all color connections are good. I recently had a Marvel vs SF doing a similar thing and traced it to a loose wire in the JAMMA connector of all places.

so i have no idea. i messed with the knobs a little bit and that did not seam to be the problem. i also unplugged and replugged in all the connectors to see if that was it. i still get the purple screen. i just bought this on Monday and i have yet to really play it because of this. I also can't get a hold of the guy i bought it from. I just sent him an email last night. I bought it from a legit business who sells arcade machines. So i hope they can help me. If anyone has any more ideas on what i should do that would be great. other than that i guess i have a neo geo i cant use. I will post something back if and when he comes to fix it. and what he fixed.

Seems like one of the colors has a bad connection.
If the screen is purple maybe red and blue are working and green has the problem?

UPDATE!

UPDATE!: So there was this coil thing that was in the center of the board that seamed to have broken off. The company i bought it off of just game me a new screen. So now it is as good as new. i have no idea what the coil thing was called but it has a bunch of what looked like copper wire wrapped around it.

If you still have the original monitor -- save it!!! You never know when or why you might have to do a tube swap if the new one ever goes out or need a chassis for parts/repair.
