Well the lock for the marquee on my MVS U4/29 doesn't work, should I get a locksmith for this? Or will a locksmith not be able to fix it? I want the machine to be as authentic as possible, so I would want the same style lock. Any and all help appreciated!

Make some photos with your digital camera and ask one, i think a locksmith should be able to do this, it is his job after all :)

I figured he would be able to, I just want to make sure I get the same lock! I need to fix the lock so I can replace the plexiglass, and then I need to fix the marquee! Lots of work to be done, but I am up for it!

Just seeing if anyone has had any good/bad experiences with this type of thing

Do you still have the lock or is it missing?

Would be good to know the part number, so the locksmith can order and install the same lock.

I was able to open up the back so I am able to get the plexiglass out. Luckily the lock was unlocked so I can unbolt it and take it to a locksmith to have him either fix it, or just order me a new lock.

I'm pretty sure that Suzo-Happ sells replacement locks -- think I saw 'em there the other day.

I opened up the back today, and unbolted the lock, but I couldn't get the lock down. I guess I will have to have a locksmith come down and crack it open for me!

Right there with Payday Loansharks and midway carnys.

On the MVS cabs that I have you can unscrew the top glass/marquee retainer. All you have to do is pull out the plexi and then unscrew the hex nut on the lock and remove the lock. You can buy locks on ebay for $3.00. I buy them locally for about $2.50.

If it has the standard locks on it, then you shouldn't have an issue drilling through them. You just a sturdy drill and a drill bit set. Norton's right about locksmiths. They will probably charge you a lot for 2 locks. It took me half an hour to neatly drill out both my MVU-25 CP locks. Just try to keep it steady when drilling up so you don't scratch up the bottom of the CP.

This guy obviously joined just to SPAM the two locksmith posts. I think a ban and delete is in order.

I still vote pick the lock and remove it, then just take it to him. You can do it with a freaking flathead.

wow...this is a new one...a lock smith. You must have lots of $$$ the throw around. You can find new locks online or at a hardware store. As mentioned before locks are cheap. I paid $5 for mine and only needed 3. A lock smith will be expensive.

Were just trying to help you save some money.
