SVC Chaos AES Hidden Characters??

I've just picked up SVC Chaos on homecart and I'm loving it but I was wondering if there were any secret characters to be unlocked? I've googled around and most sites give out codes/tips for the Xbox/PS2 version.

I don't have a debug bios unfortunately so that's not an option for me.

They should all be unlocked from the start, but their portraits are just invisible? Maybe this is only on AES systems with custom BIOS chips (either Debug or UniBIOS) where the games run developer modes.
