Monitor Cap Replacement?

Hey guys. So my Neo Geo has a little discoloration in the lower right corner. I was wondering if that could possibly fixed with a cap replacement, or if its something deeper than that, possibly unfixable. I'll try and get a decent picture tomorrow that shows what I'm talking about. I'm already planning on doing a replacement in my Battletoads cab so I was wondering if it sounds like my Neo could use it as well, in which case I could just do them both at the same time.

On a side note, if anybody knows some good cap replacement tutorials they could suggest to me I would appreciate it.

Thanks to all who reply.

Have you tried to degauss it?

No I have not. Is there a good tutorial for that out there as well?

Try to buy a degaussing coil. If you have multiple machines you will use it quite a bit. That discoloration can be caused by magnetic interference. Is there anything around your machine magnetic? Speakers, etc. Also, moving your machine can cause it.

Its actually had the discoloration since I bought it. Its never really been a big deal since the color is only slightly off. However the color comes into play more when you play Bust-A-Move, specifically when you play versus mode. It makes the blue and purple bubbles look the same color for player 2, giving player 1 an unfair advantage.

You should definitely try a degaussing wand. The effort of tracking one down is minimal. My monitor had a big 'ol spot on it when I got it... I was worried it was a purity ring problem. I got a wand on ebay that was cheap, although I also needed to buy a 'reverse' voltage converter to use it as it ran on 220 volts. Anyway - it worked like a charm.

I'll definitely look into it. Might be a while before I get to it though since the discoloration is minimal and most of my spare cash is currently going into the cab conversion I'm working on.
