Anyone know who all the official winners are in the various King of Fighters tournaments, in the canon storyline of the games?

A nerdy question I know, but I was reading Kyo's SNK Wikia page, and it mentions how he was a winner for KoF '94-'97, making him a record holder with four victories.

Kyo was in the team with Goro and Benimaru for those years, so I assume it means Team Japan won the first four tournaments in the storyline.

Anyone know who won the other KoF tournaments in 99, 2000, 2001, 2003, and XI? I can't seem to find out.

Thanks.

IIRC

99, 2000, 2001 were all win by the 'New Protagonist Team' -> K' Team

2003 was win by Kyo, Iori and Chizuru IIRC.

Dunno about XI.

It is funny how you won't know who the official winners are until the next game with a storyline comes out. KOF 98, 2002 and XII have no story, so we will have to wait till XIII most likely to find out.

Thanks for the info, Shito. Looks like the main hero teams get the most appreciation, I wonder if Iori will ever win one? :D

And good point SNKNostalgia, I guess we don't know the official winner of XI yet.

Iori has won as part of a team I think, maybe when he had to team up with Kyo, but can't remember.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ash won the last one with Shen and Oswald. His storyline involves beating Iori and taking his flame, and it sets him up for a showdown to take out Kyo.

And he's obviously featured heavily in all of the artwork and intro for the new game, which hints at them having prepared for continuing the story with him as the winner.

Do people literally get all this KOF story just from finishing the games with the official teams? I've always kind of wondered.

Yeah, you have to finish a lot of characters single players to get the whole picture. And then, as the poster above said, you get and idea of who won from the intros to each game.

Cool, i always did wonder who won, never really payed attention to the storyline. More into the fighting system than anything.
