I decided to take apart my MVS Samurai Shodown 3 cartridge, and I found something that was a tad interesting.
Some of the chips on the board have a square hologram reflective-type thing in the middle of the chips, and the chips that are like that also have what appears to be some type of marker on it, different colors on different chips.
I opened up my other MVS carts (Fatal Fury 3 and Real Bout FF, both Japanese) and they just had regular chips on them. Also, all of the boards have the SNK logo on them. However, the FF games both say NEO-MVS PROGBK1 on it, while the SS game says NEO-MVS PROGSS3 on it.
My first thought was that it was a bootleg, but there aren't any wires or messy soldering, and this is one of the most common and cheap carts made, it would be cheaper to buy a legit one than to bootleg it. I mean, I only paid 13 bucks for it. Maybe it's just an oddball cart?
Anybody know what the deal is here?
