i have a mv-1c board, and i believe it is the latin america version since in magical drop 3, the voices are mostly speaking spanish. i did a few searches and it seems like i should be able to change the dip settings to make games play in english, but i couldn't find how...anyone have any info on this?

(i do know a universe bios is an option, however i do not trust my soldering skills that much!)

I live in Mexico and have 2 1F and 1 C Neo Geos, thay are all european so I assumed there is no Latin American version.

The only setting for language is in each's game soft dips, if there's no option there you cannot change it. You can also try changing the Region soft dip as well on the game soft dip list if it is available. On my boards I have it set to "other" and in Language English.

The issue is thet not all games have the setting.

I would highky recommend a universe BIOS, I recently changed a 1F to it and I am not looking back, but the 1C has a soldered BIOS so I see your point there.

I just placed Magical Drop 2 on a stock 1F and indeed, it has no language dip switch.

My 1C is asian. It doesn't give a z80 error when theres no cart in either, it just comes up with the hardware test menu just like any other MVS board .

The BIOS is different though, they've amended certain things. Not to any great extent however.

thanks for the replies! i am thinking my board is probably european, and that the md3 characters speak spanish on the english version...because nothing else is in spanish on any of my other games. it was the first time i played md3 in english mode so i was kind of caught off guard when i heard the different sound effects. :)

MD3 should be in english on a euro motherboard, not spanish.

its weird, the text is all in english, but while playing the stuff they yell out is spanish... like "cuidado!" i should probably try it out on an emulator to see how the english version is supposed to sound. will do that later on tonight.

Post a pic of your board because bootleg PCBs do exist.

Yup it's legit. Just do the Unibios mod. Just take your time.

I can't be arsed doing a unibios mod on the 1C, leaving it default.

I tried looking for some threads about where it discussed the 1C having better video output but the only differences I can see is that its got a newer BIOS, nothing more, nothing less. :(

The 1C does have better video output, the colors are more vibrant and rich.
