hi all-

i've been getting an itch to play ikari warriors(arcade) with a supergun setup and have a few questions. since this a vertical shooter is there anyway i can play this without turning my HDTV on its side? If not, are there any HDTVs out there that will let me rotate the screen? Who is the best person to go to for a custom built supergun besides dean at multimods? Also this game requires a rotary joystick. Is there anyone on this site who can build me a rotary joystick controller for my supergun if i get the parts for it?

You could get a mount that will let you rotate your tv on the wall.

It would be interesting to see someone build a LS-30 type rotary joystick. Those who are technically and mechanically studied could make one out of standard joystick parts (two types of knobs: 4 switch version or optical sensor version: 12 positions).

why not turn you desktop joystick vertical and play it hori? :lolz:

You can assemble one easily if you can find a KBM Championship joystick and a SNK LS-30 rotary. Here's one I modified myself for my supergun.

if i play this game horizontally, the screen would be moving left to right, correct? Well i want to play it the way it was meant to be played. For those of you who actually own a ikari warriors board and play it with your supergun, how do you have it set up? Do you even have to turn your tv on its side or is there some kind of screen flipping mode? I do not want to play it with my tv on its side and I do not want to play it on a computer monitor. Am i out of luck here? Is there no way i can play an ikari warriors pcb with my HDTV?:oh_no:

The game is vertical, so you'll just have to turn your TV on its side. There's no way around that.

If you don't want to rotate your TV then I suggest finding a cheap 19" CRT locally. I know there's plenty on craigslist.

You can go the route I did, and buy a XRGB-2 and VGA monitor. It's more expensive but with a good LCD monitor you'll save desktop space and they're easy to rotate.

Well, there is a way: it could be played horizontally if the stick directions are shifted properly (RIGHT is UP, UP is LEFT etc.).

You could also get a cheap monitor. I got a dell LCD from the outlet a few years back that rotates vertical on it's stand and has composite and svideo input. Use it a lot to play the one dreamcast at my desk. So you could also do something like that... I mean it's not a huge display but that monitor is 22 widescreen so when you go vertical it's still pretty decent.

My 1080p Samsung HDMI monitor has a stand that lets you rotate the monitor to play vertical games.

2494HM. It's 24 inch 1080p. No built-in tuner. No remote. Has inputs: VGA x 1, DVI x 1, HDMI x 1 with built-in speakers. Accepts interlaced signals through HDMI, so I use it as a TV with an HDMI cable box. Was cheap for me to buy in Korea and I know the model is sold elsewhere.
