If I use a US game on a Jap Homecart system, does the text convert to Japanese or is it still english?

What is the best to buy, Jap or US system?

The text will be Japanese on a Japanese system. Plus: If you play a Japanese game on a U.S. system, the text will be English, (this is for all games or almost all of them, with the exception of Mahjong titles.) In regards to which system you should get--it's a matter of preference. If you want to be able to read text, get a U.S. system. The downside here is censorship, albeit minor. If the idea of white or green blood is too unoriginal for you, then a Japanese system will be uncensored, but unless you know Japanese, you'll miss out on alot of text, which, while not important, adds to the game, IMO. Your other option is getting either system and having a debug chip installed which would help bypass censorship on most games, and also has perks like extra continues and stuff. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Ah, just the topic I was looking for.

Yes, I am a noob to a Neo-Geo AES. I finally got one, after 6 or so years of dying to get one. Anyways, I was wondering how compatible it is. I figure from above, (I got a Japanese System, and I live in the US) that US games WILL play on a JAP system, but the text will be in english? And the games will also be more uncensored? just wondering so I don't blow my hard earned cash over at Ebay on a game I can't play.

I take it I can't play a Euro game unless I have a PAL TV, correct?

Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

If you got a Japanese system-unless it is modded-all games, English or Japan, will play in Japanese. And you should be able to play European carts (not sure about consoles...) on a NTSC TV just fine... As far as being uncensored--the games should play uncensored on your Japanese AES, even if they are English. Basically, it's the system that determines what comes out of the cart.. If you know what I mean...
