Lo all.

Ive been lurking on these boards for years now, as well as KLOV, and I finally had a post worth writing.

I have ALWAYS been a huge neo-geo fan when I saw them in the arcades years ago. The multiple game slots, the headphone jacks, the MEMORY CARD. Holy crap, these machiens were the shit.

My quaters got dumped into these machiens more than any other. pfft, who needs MK1 when I have a neo-geo!

I was 11 when I persuaded my dad to order for me the Neo Geo memory card from a local shop. My dad could care less about games, but my mom loved them. And she loved playing the games with me, she could probably get a TG score for Tetris.

That first night I got that memory card I was so excited. I was afraid I would lose it so I had my mom keep it in her purse when we were coming home.

What happens next took a toll on me for many years. We were mugged. My mom stops her car and a guy gets in the car, grabs her purse, and runs off. My mom was shocked. I had no idea what had just happened.

I had to talk to the police, since I saw the guy, and give descriptions, and it was traumatic for being only 11.

Blast forward 14 years -

Last week I finally got a memory card off of ebay. I have 3 big reds in my garage, and looking at them and playing them reminds me of the event. But getting that memory card brought back a whole flood of memories.

I am now over it. I got back what was mine, and my neo geo arcade collection is one step closer to being complete.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Ironic, my father mugged someone under those same circumstances nearly 14 years ago.

He bought me a gold system with the proceedings.

Nah, had a shitton of therapy over the years. parents divorces and shit like that will do that to you.

Just got the memory card and was reminded of it all. Makes me happy to have one back in my hands.

Well they're definitely in the right place for that, anyway. :D

Glad you finally got your mem card. I hope it was worth the 14 year buildup. :)
