I find this game to be insanely hard. So, I decided to make a poll and ask people how far they have made it in the game.

No cheating! :shame:

Memory card saving is ok though.

I forget which stage number, but the frog-men usually get me. I've only made to the stage after them once.

beat it twice today, just got my stuff sorted for getting through on a single credit, but i'm still sort of relying on luck that I don't get screwed over in a situation i simply can't get out of (stupid eyeballs). don't know how much easier the home cart conditions are than what you typically get from MVS but it's no godlike effort to 1cc the game.

level 7 mainboss is where I slip up sometimes and maybe other places depending on how unlucky I get.

I voted that I suck at the game but honestly I never really put any effort into it. I am bored though, so I voted.

Pretty far, but never beat it. I can't remember the stage. And I still love the music.

I can make it to Stage 2. I haven't played the game in years though.

The homecart is harder then MVS in my opinion. In MVS, you respawn where you die. The homecart has stage checkpoints. This makes the timer in AES mode a much harsher difficulty factor then the MVS version.

I beat this game in college after my suite mate beat it first. It's not nearly as hard as Viewpoint which I admit I suck at. However, Magician Lord is about as hard or maybe a little harder than 'Nam 75.

Anyway, I beat it on MVS settings on the AES which is between normal and hard. You should have included in your poll if you think using a memory card is cheating. I beat it with the memory card.

I've got a score of a little over 300k posted in the high score thread. I did that a while ago but if memory serves me I made it to level 5 or 6 on that one credit run. There are also two different ROM sets, one allows for a max of 4 hit points the other easier version allows for 6. I was playing the 4 HP version to set that score. Great game though, a true Neo classic.

I beat it on my cab back when I had my cab. It took more credits that I care to remember but I beat it.

I've only ever made it to the second stage, but I've only had the game a couple weeks.... I need to put some more time into it when I've got more patience.

I spent a whole summer(97?) mastering the game. I still love it but I am probably never going to play it again. It was awesome but also like torture trying to beat it. After I beat it I didnt play it for years!

What ever stage they introduce the frog men in. I was playing it on free play, but it got to the point that I was killed the very second I came back, it happened about twelve times down one corridor. I said fuck it and never went back to it.

Took me a week or so to beat the aes version, playing it on and off..
Beat it with the standard neo-geo controller, which I think is half the reason
its so difficult..tough to make accurate jumps with the joystick...

I've gotten to the castle with those abysmal, respawning frog warriors.
Even using a GameFAQs walkthrough, I can't seem to make it to the end of the castle. It just loops forever.

well crap. well I like the way they set up the checkpoints to be honest because atleast it offsets the whole unlimited continues thing. some more motivation to actually learn the game.

seems that people hate the stage with frogmen. the frogmen stage has this part that leads to a door right before the ladder maze, it's better to just skip the frogs all together and go down the ladder before they transform, there's too many to deal with in that 1 spot. There's another spot like this in the level inside one of the bonus doors. apart from that killing them is pretty simple, just let them jump over you like with the catgirl demon things.

I finished the aes and CD versions back in 90's the Cd version was much more easier because it had the option to select difficulty. I finished aes version first. I love that game !

snk were being greedy cocksuckers with those frogmen.

but as we all found out via chad okada, i guess people decided to not put in quarters after being frustrated with the difficulty.

a sequel with toned-down difficulty would have been sublime...

Lets just say there would be no way i'd be able to get through it in an actual arcade. This is due to not wanting to spend that much money on one game.

Since I do own the MVS cart I have played through it once and if I were actually dropping money in to play it... I would have spend about ~ $30 or so. .25 a play. The boss that hangs out on the right wall and shoots bubbles is extrememly hard.

On the AES home cart, I'm lucky to get to stage 4.
The home cart makes you restart the level from a check point every time you die.
Without strict memorization of all the moves required, I cant see home someone could beat the home cart version. If you can, you way better than me at platform games. :)

I cant even beat the MVS version in my cabinet. I get to stage 7 (or 8?) where you have to jump on the moving clouds and I keep gettign knocked off thus restarting back at the start of jumping section. After many tries, I just gave up.....

I need some serious practice at this game - still stuck on stage 2 on the AES version!

Maybe now I've got Unibios I'll try it in MVS mode...
