I was curious if anyone has ever come across a bootleg AES cart before? I mean, like you see for other systems that were factory produced in Hong Kong or Thailand, not a home made conversion.

and so forth..

I have been to Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. Never seen a single factory produced AES homecarts for all these years. Factory produced bootleg Neo Geo CD is more common.

I've never seen or heard of any. I think if any did exist we would definitely know about them by now.

That doesn't mean one will never exist, these types of games get made all the time to this day. I'd say it seems unlikely though, I can't imagine they'd make a whole hell of a lot of money from it. The AES isn't a very widely owned platform after all. If one ever did come around it would probably simply be an AES version of the 100-in-1 MVS cart.

There is always that Metal Slug for the GBC if you want some SNK bootlegging goodness.

It seems like many people didn't pay attention to AES in Hong Kong, it wouldn't surprise me at all if something went under the radar for most collectors. Maybe the system was too pricey for the consumer that the piracy market aimed for.

I think the closest thing would be a boot or diggerman,
which of course was an incomplete homebrew.
