Has anyone tried different versions of the Happ Joysticks?

I'm mostly interested in the REAL differences between the:

Competiton
Ultimate
and
Electroni Perfect 360

Sticks.

I use the Happ Super Joysticks. I messed up and bought a couple of the Ultimate ones last week, and I don't like them as much. I really think the Supers are the best value and performance. I have them in my UMK3 cab, my MVS and my MAME Controller. I think if you go to the Happ site they show them in an exploded view. The only real difference that I see is the way the actuator on the bottom activates the switches, and the way the handle is molded on the shaft. Hope that helps,

Hey Blaine, I've found the best setup is Happ Ultimate joysticks, and Happ Competition buttons. That, of course, is if you prefer your arcade joysticks nice and tight.

So no one's tried the Electronic stick?

I'm facinated by it for unknown reasons.

I've tried both the competition and the ultimate, I have to say I prefer the ultimate; they have a tighter feel to them. I will probably wind up ordering in some of the electronic ones out of curiosity next order I place with happ, but you really can't go wrong with the ultimate.

Oh, I like your comment on Pittsburgh, but last time I was there I remember seeing fries on more than just sandwiches, they were on damn near everything...Not that I'm saying a cheese steak with fries in it is bad.

I used the Ultimate Joystick and Ultimate pushbutton on my home MVS setup. I haven't tried the others though, but I'm very happy with what I have now.

Peace

Hell yeah. Sandwiches, Salads, Baked Potatoes.

Let us know how the electronic one works for you if and when you get one.

So which would people recommend to someone looking to get the feel of the Japanese style joysticks?

While the ones I have in my U.S. MVS cab are in perfect shape (standard U.S. controllers), I find that it takes WAY too much motion to do any sort of special move, and consequently it also takes far too long for them to center back up.

The ones found in the Japanese arcades take much less movement, and I find in general that I can play much better with a set-up like theirs.

Hell, even if I could get the same type of feel as found on the original Neo sticks would be a welcome change!

Well, dragging back an older thread here. I just thought you would like to know that Happ have their electronic joysticks on sale for $24.99 until the end of march. I like the feel of these joysticks and haven't gotten one to break yet despite intenional abuse to test their durability. Keep in mind that the joysticks do require +5v so they are not suitable for home systems that can't provide that(unless you feel like running a power cable to the joystick). I'll probably post up a full review if/when I can find the time.

Ultimate

Competition

Super

Out of those, I like the Super the best. The Ultimates went to mush too quick, and I like the grip on the Super better.

Amen to that Bio. I have Supers on my Hanaho HotRod, and plan to put them in my sticks for my SuperNova. By FAR the best feeling sticks around.

I like the grip in that it is somewhat of a hybrid between a ball and a teardrop style stick.

Here you can find an in-depth review of three well-known Happ joysticks:

Good review, but I disagree with some of his conclusions. Good information though, I am going to go pull apart an older Super and compare it to a newer one to check out what he says.

Um...OK, so I posted to the wrong forum. :p HHey all! Happ controllers huh? I'll look into that thanks! I plan to finally own an AES system...when my friend decides to give it to me. Anyway, I was just curious about the MAS System controllers and how good are they?
Thanks for the help.

Des '02 :D

Oh, one more thing. Can you get your joystick custom made the way you like it from these joystick companies? :D

MAS System Supernova comes with Happ Ultimate joysticks which are definitely good, but not as good as Supers (IMHO)...

You mean Happ Controls?? No way! They just sell coin-op parts, then it's up to you to wire them up...
