What are realistic home arcade games for apartment use? I know this has been asked to death but I could not locate this in SEARCH. I am not into MAME as I much rather have the real thing.

I know about the MVS. How hard would it be to consolize a one slot or even two slot? What other system boards can be consolized? I am not after a supergun as I just don't like them.I much rather have each system on it's own connected directly to S-Video or Component.

Does anyone have step-by-step durections on how to consolize the various boards? I know I have seen a consolized Hyper 64. Exactly how hard was it to do?

ANy and all information or suggestions would be most appreciated.

The Big 3

MVS
PGM
Atomiswave...

You can also do F3, CPSII and STV although it might not be worth it for those systems.

I also thought about consolizing a 60-1 PCB for a friend of mine...

Loves Mr. Do but doesn't have any use/proficiency with MAME.

I was gonna put the board in a Pactec case, add a control port, and hook it up to a tated PC monitor.

Thanks Norton for the quick answers. What about how to consolize these systems? I am not too savy with wiring and soldering.

Xian Xi has a good tutorial on how to consolize a 2 slot and while I'm a novice at soldering, it looks like something I could definitely handle. I think the tutorial is also on his website.

how could you rate pgm and atomiswave over cps2 and naomi?:spock:

honestly it depends on what you want to play. get/make a good supergun and youll have a much wider array of games to play than if you stick to consolizing cart systems.

Ya work on getting a supergun (either build or buy). Then you can play a wide array of arcade equipment all with the same device. It just makes more sense then trying to consolize several arcade systems.

The 2 Slot is easiest to consolize since it has neo-geo joystick ports, memory card slots and stereo headphone jacks built in. All you really need to is to get the video out and power supply.

That said, you can still go whole hog and get everything out of the JAMMA interface like you would for other MVS models.

As an arcade platform...... CpsII and Naomi are way better.

I am just looking at Gamefan's needs... He wants a nice, compact console.

Cps 2 is a bit of big footprint... And while there are some Consolized units out there, it just doesn't work well as a console.

Naomi has all the attachments... And needs more juice to power the Drive... So that doesn't work as a console either.

MVS, PGM and Atomiswave just make for the best consoles.

Also, most of the good Naomi stuff is on the DC.

I have done two atomiswaves... And it isn't very fun... Definitly not a good first time project. I'd recommend you buy one rather than do it yourself.

i think a cps2 would be the next best cart system to own after an mvs. most cps2 games arent ported very well or at all. naomi is great too but it can be a mess.

i wouldnt reccomend pgm or aw to anyone just in general. whats good on aw? xi and fotns are on ps2. pgm also has very few games and most arent very good. martial masters looks good but everything else i could live without. i have demon front and its nowhere near metal slug.
