Does anyone know of any issues with running a Vektorlogic Multi-Jamma board with an MVS, or even multiple MVS's?

I was thinking of getting maybe two slot 4's and a Hyper64 MoBo and link them all up.

Something tells me that the default power supply in my Slot 1 won't be able to handle that .

Anyone?

Not sure about the power issues, but take a look here:
http://www.multigame.com/jamma.html

If you want to buy it in the US. I'm not sure if this is the same unit, but Clay is highly respected in the arcade world. I'm sure he can answer any power questions you might have.

Post pics if you do it, I'd love to see it in action.

Cool.

They look exactly the same...well they're described the same. Probably the same hardware but if nothing else you saved me on some shipping .

Thanks a lot!

If anyone else knows anything I'd appreciate it.

I'm only guessing here, but lets say you have all 8 sockets full.

Would the designers really be so stupid to have all 8 boards powered up at once?? I very much doubt it.

I would guess(100%) that some logic which allows you to select your title also controlls power to each 'gate'.

If you're not sure just email Jeff. He's given me prompt and friendly responses in the past.

www.multigame.com is the origin of the Multi Jamma.

And, yes, all PCBs are powered on at the same time, thats the reason for the multiple power supplies, and the only way to easily hot swap between them.

Only issue is wiring up extra buttons, if I remember correctly. I am eventually going to get a MultiJAMMA setup myself from Clay. I have his MultiPac setup (which is off the market) he did a great job on it!

Yeah, that's what I gleened from it. Do you think the powersupply from an Slot 1 is adequate (I don't know how powerful it is as it has yet to arrive)?

I doubt it as the MultiJAMMA specifically uses PC Power supply connectors to provide power. He has more info on his site, best to read thru it. 3 Power Supplies is what he recommends for 8 boards, 3 boards per PS....

If you check out the fingerboards, you should see the connectors I am talking about (IIRC)

I read through, but to my knowledge an MVS MoBo requires more power than a regular PCB.

That's sorta where my question is. Would I use a similar formula for 2 MVS slot 4's and a Hyper 64 as Three PCB's or Nine?

I can tell you that my 4 slot MVS is running off a regular switching PS. I guess the original PS died and somebody added the switcher. So, I would guess that a 4 slot MVS does not take any more power than a regular Jamma PCB setup. The carts themselves should not really draw much if any power, so the mvs unit really is not much more than a regular Jamma board, just +5v and +12v. The only thing that would draw much more power is the 25" monitor (maybe) and that is 120v coming off the isolation transformer. Don't know about the Hyper 64. I did find a service manual posted for a 2 or 4 slot the other day, I'll check it for power requirements and see if it has anything of help.
