Fixing the AC Adapter Port

After getting my Neo modded and having new cart slots put in, I finally found out the main culprit for having such a poor picture, the port for the AC adapter. After a little toying around, I can get a near perfect picture. However, that only lasts for so long before it goes back to the crappy picture. I think I need to tighten up this one bent metal piece that's right underneath the connector rod on the port.
Does anyone know how I can repair this or am I better off sending it to a professional?

I can send you a jack from one of my scrap boards if you want to install it yourself.

Is it easy to install the piece? I have no technical know-how on repairing video game systems.
If it sounds like a job I can't do, then I'll just send you the system so you can install the jack, Jeff. I greatly appreciate your help and you've certainly revived my system.

it's 2 or 3 large spots to desolder, pretty easy if you know how to work a desoldering pump. the jacks are available at nearly any electronics shop too.

I better not toy around with it then. Jeff, I'll send you the system for round three to replace the DC port.
What exactly is desoldering? Anything that I wanted repaired on my Neo involves desoldering. I don't want to damage my system so I'll play it safe and let Jeff repair it.

desoldering simply means melting the solder around a pin or component and removing it with a pump that sucks it up, or desoldering braid (a type of wire that sucks up solder). when the solder is gone, the part can be wiggled free and removed. then the new part can be added by re-adding the solder around the new pins, thus making a connection.

OK. Thanks for the info. Jeff, if you're reading this, I'm gonna e-mail you about fixing the DC port. You've already done wonders for this system and I need the finishing touch for it.
