Hey, i am planning on putting a Xbox 360 inside my astro city cabinet, but before i do have a few questions. I hope you guys can help me out or link me to some place with the information i need.

1. What do i need to get my 360 to function with a astro city cabinet.

2. What are the chances of a RROD in a candy cabinet! o_O

3. Is there any way that when you insert a quarter it gives you a certain amount of time for you to press a certain button will leaving all the other buttons functioning at all times.

4. Any way that inserting a coin will make it push a button on its own, or allow you to press a certain button one time, while leaving all the other buttons function at all times.

5. How can i link 1x xbox 360 to play on 2 different cabs, like a link style.

I hope you guys at Neo-Geo can help me out. Sorry if i sound dumb. Thanks a bunch.

Wow, where do I start.

1. There are adapters that allow you to convert the signal from your 360 to your arcade monitor. For instance, there are vga cables for XBOX360s. You can buy something called a vga to cga/ega adapter that can convert the signal from the vga 360 cable to your arcade monitor. For the controls, you go to modchipman.com and they make controller pcbs that can hook up to joysticks and buttons.

The simpler solution for you, I think, is to go to Ultimarc.com and purchase of their console to jamma adapters. They have sets of items you can buy that enable you to hook consoles to arcade cabinets.

2. The same chance outside of your cabinet, I would imagine.

Question 3. and 4. make no sense to me. Are you thinking about one of those XBOX to jamma adapters that place time limits on play so arcade operator can use an XBOX his or her arcade? I wouldn't buy one of those.

5. Find a way to split the video signal. A lot of those adapters I told you about have two output signals, I think.

thanks a bunch black 7, and to clarify questions 3 and 4.

Basicly like those timer things, but having it only effect one button. While the rest of the buttons are still functioning.

Example: I put a quarter in, i have 1 minute to press the start button, but when the 1 minute is over, the start button will no longer function until you put another quarter in. But the entire time, the joystick and the other buttons are still functioning.

Where can i purchase a vga to cga/ega adapter?

thanks a bunch black 7 for your time and consideration.

That may be a little technical form him...

You can get a vga to cga adapter here

I still would investigate the Ultimarc adapters first if I were you. I know they make XBOX adapters, not sure about 360 though...

I wouldn't mess with those converters.... You never know what kind of quality you are going to get.

+1... those VGA to CGA converters are trash. I've fooled with one in the past. They look like they down convert the VGA to a composite video signal, then convert that to CGA.

Perhaps the best way to get a 360 on a standard res monitor is to use a SCART cable and one of the ultimarc video amplifiers.

Note:

I am not sure if RGB mode outputs a Composite Sync or Composite Video on the yellow wire.

If it outputs Composite Video in RGB mode, then you would be better off getting one of their console adapters (Amp and splitter included) and rewire it.

If it outputs Composite sync, then you could get away with a stock RGB amp.

What you want to do is avoid having to use an RGBAMP AND a seperate sync splitter. That is a mess and leads to trouble.

Well I believe I have changed my mind and am looking to get a Net City Upright or a Blast City cab. On the fence of which one to go with but it should be easier to connect the 360 to.

I have a NAC with a MS8 monitor. Once I buy the VGA converter

How does it hook up? I'm afraid to mess with the monitor.

Do I need to switch it to 24k manually?

MS8 doesn't have a VGA connector, and if you get a VGA to CGA converter the video isn't the greatest. I can make you a 360->JAMMA box That will work in your NAC. Send me a PM.

talk to lemony have him make an adapter for you. I currently run my 360 in blast city. Blast city has a vga port to cover the video and audio, Lem made me an adapter to cover controls for the cabinet.

he can make an all in one adapter for video, audio, and controls. His prices are very reasonable, and his work is top notch:)

I already did. His work is killer, nice guy.

I'm just worried how the xbox 360 will look on a NAC at 15K.
