4-way vs. 8-way joysticks

Why not bring up a controller test and try hitting a diagonal?
I can tell you now you have 8 way sticks.
If you mean whats the difference in a square vs octagonal restrictor plate, its up to preference.
I wouldn't even use a 4 way stick playing guile, because a lot of guile play is down-back crouching, not just standing up and blocking.

Ahh, I think I got it now.
These Happ sticks are just really mushy in the corners, and the range is super tiny for triggering both switches. It's hard to tell when you have the exact diagonal.
Are Sanwa sticks much easier to tell with, or do you pretty much have to perfect the art of hitting 45 degree angels?

The white spacer inside the shaft is wearing out. That's common in HAPP sticks. Temporary solutions: flip the white spacer over or remove the e-clip and add a small washer to the end. Ultimately you need to replace it or just get a Sanwa.
