Cool! I've been looking for someone who has one of these cabinets. So you don't like the one that you have?...and it's made out of wood? WoW!
You really impressed me by talking about something you clearly know nothing about.
I just bought one and I'll post my opinions when I get it and run it through it's paces. I'm not to confident in the monitor since it's only 15 khz...but a new candy clone for $999.99 shipped sounds pretty solid to me.

actually those cabinets are complete junk... sorry. He's not an asshole for saying it either and neither am I. Too bad you didnt do more research before before clicking that buy it now button because you could have gotten an Astro city or another real candy cab shipped to you for that price.

But i wouldn't pay $1000 (ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS) for a knockoff cab.

He said it was made out of wood for crying out loud!....and just how old would an Astro City cabinet be? The cheapest I found was $1200 shipped for a 10+ year old cabinet.
I plan on putting a new high res monitor in it...so it's going to be $1250 (+ I can sell the included 29" standard res monitor) for a NEW cab and a NEW 29" flat VGA monitor. Point me to a NEW authentic candy with a NEW 29" VGA monitor for less that $1500 and I'll buy it...and sell the Chinese one.

I've never seen this particular model, but a lot of Asian "candy cabinets" are made of wood. Not claiming to know anything about this cabinet btw.
As far as new monitors go, lots of them don't have the build quality that the classics do. Last year, the monitor in my Astro City (1993) outlived the monitor in my Atomiswave (2003). I lucked out and found an NOS Sanwa PFX to replace it. That monitor was DOA and I had to wait months for a replacement. 3rd time around and I finally have a working cabinet for the 1st time in like 6-9 months. Crossing my fingers it holds up. The PFX isn't exactly known as a top of the line monitor (well, other than by a few idiots, but I love them all the same).
Enjoy your cabinet dude. Buying a machine brand new has always been a dream of mine.
