I found a guy here in South Carolina that comes across Blast City cabinets on a semi regular basis and was able to pick one up yesterday during some trading. He normally leaves them as Sega Bass Fishing cabs or even worse, turns them into other games like Turkey Hunter and Buck Hunting :(
I've already removed most of the Bass Fishing brackets and also removed the control panels and drilled out the locks, but I still have a lot of work to do to get these cleaned up. The one on the left has a working monitor, but the other one's monitor doesn't work and is in the process of being repaired...hopefully.

Would anyone else be interested in Blast City cabinets if more of these come through? If so, what is the going rate for these things with both working and nonworking monitors?

Thanks!

Bass Fishing w/ working monitor ~ $450-$500
Bass Fishing w/ non-working monitor ~$150-$250

Hell they are almost worth more with no Bass Fishing hardware since noone wants that crap.*

*If anyone wants that crap PM me. lol

Blast City monitors are tri-sync monitors with VGA hookups, yes.

Flip out like "Oh my god I love Bass Fishing!!" or flip out like "I can't believe you brought that crap in my house! I hate you!"?

This is my forth cabinet so I've had to be really nice to my wife lately :)

No, he doesn't have anymore right now, but he is going to an arcade buyout in the next week or so and I told him to be on the lookout for these.

I may decide to sell the one I have without the monitor if you or anyone else is interested. After thinking about it, getting 2 Blast City control panels, jamma harnesses, and finding another working monitor may be a bit much for me at the moment.

I kind of wish I could trade them both for one of Biblios Egrets.

with one fully working with a panel and what not and that shell, you could probably shift both for atleast the price of an E2.

That's the thing, I haven't got a working panel yet. I spent the money I had for one on a second machine!

Blast City's are sweet if you can find them in decent shape (tri-sync=beyond sweet). Unfortunately, a life as a Bass fishing cab is not kind. I've seen a few at auction but they've all had pretty bad burn in and beat up to boot. If I ever see one in decent shape I want to snag it.

Great to see someone breathing life back into them. Be sure to snap a pic when they are both up and running!:buttrock:

Hey guys i found a guy with just the cabinet, jamma wired, with a 6 button 2 player control panel. It needs a monitor, what kind of VGA monitors will work/fit? I wanna keep it the 29in. Thanks

most 27/29" monitors should fit ok, but there are varying types of curvature for monitors. the Blast monitor is "semi-flat" and i don't know if anything with that curvature exists besides the factory spec Blast monitor. with a flat screen monitor you will need to sink the monitor back into the cabinet about 3/4-1" so the bezel will clip in, a curved monitor will need to be sunk back about the same so the bezel will fit. the easiest thing to do would be to swap the original mounting brackets from the stock monitor to the new monitor if those are included, otherwise you'll probably have to drill the new brackets which could be a bitch.

I have a 29" Sharp Image SVGA monitor I'm using in my Mame cab that I was thinking of putting in my Blast City, but then it'd have to be my Mame cab and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
There is also a guy selling a 29" Vision Pro EGA/VGA monitor locally for $225 that I am thinking about putting in the Blast, but for that much money, I could also buy a replacement chassis for the broken monitor I already have.

Decisions decisions

i bought 4 flat screen tri-sync neimen monitors somewhat recently, but none of them are still with me. they are great horizontal monitors but when you vert them they are pretty shitty. the chasis on his flat screen monitors are still chasis for curved monitors so you have to mess with the geometry a lot. i dropped all 4 into Blast City cabs, you just have to mount the brackets on the back of the monitor instead of the front and use washers to space the monitor back about 3/4" so the bezel will fit in.

a new chasis will work, but you'll be left with your original tube with some burn in. i haven't checked with Alva in a long time, but when i did, they couldn't get a supporting chasis. I believe the replacement Wei-Ya chasis is now out of production as well, though I think Rodotron makes a comparable chasis.

Sanwa PFX monitors drop in (if you can find one)

Good news, apparently the guy working on my Nanao chassis has found all the parts he needs from Japan and is confident he can repair it :)
I won't get my hopes up until I see it working though.

That is good news. Just hope your tube isn't too burned. I was told that all MS29-31 parts were NLA, but I guess you got a better man on your side. Is this Jomac you are dealing with?

I'm not sure who this guy is. He is here in Spartanburg, SC and is apparently really good at fixing monitors. We'll see if he can actually fix mine, but I remain hopeful.
The tube did have some burn-in, but it wasn't quite as bad as the burn-in my working monitor has.

Could you tell me where this can be gotten? Is that for a whole new nanao or without tube?

only a chasis. you would have to fit it to an existing tube. geezer used to have a couple at segashed, but i dunno if he still does.
